Decisions are difficult to make sometimes. Questions concerning our future direction in life often give us much thought and consideration. When a young person is planning to attend college, he or she may spend months researching different schools, trying to find the one that has the best curriculum fit for them. As adults, as we begin a work career, we search for those jobs that seem interesting to us or that have the best benefits for income and security. Most people take time to think about large purchases too, like automobiles or houses. These are major choices in life and will influence our future in a big way. It can become overwhelming and sometimes even confusing.
But it is great to know that God has always had a plan for us! He has a wonderful purpose for our lives! We know from Psalms 139:15 &16 that God has always known about us. Even before we were ever conceived God knew us and He already had a plan for our lives! “All our days” are in God’s plan. God’s plans are good and right and perfect for us. We are assured of this in Jeremiah 29:11 where He say, “I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”
So how do we figure out these great and wonderful things that God has for us? First of all, we must receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior and let Him be in control of our life. Then we must pray and ask for guidance in all that we do. Finally, we must listen to the Holy Spirit as it speaks to our hearts and minds to show us the way.
When life’s queries are before us and we are not sure which direction to go, always look up. God has the answers. He lovingly planned all our days and He will lovingly guide us through each one.
