Welcome to “In His Praise!” Happy 4th of July! Today we celebrate freedom. Americans enjoy a lifestyle of rights and privileges that many others in the world can only dream about. God has richly blessed our country and for that we are thankful. He has also blessed us with freedom from sin and the consequences. Freedom is truly a God-given right and should never be taken for granted. But like the saying goes, “to whom much is given, much is required”. As Christians we have a responsibility to use our freedoms  in the right way.  Galatians 5:13 instructs us to do just that; “You, my brothers, are called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature, rather serve one another in love.” As we…

Welcome to “In His Praise!” Most of us desire to do good. As Christians, we want to always do and say the right things. But, we are human, and we sin from time to time. That should not keep us from striving to be better people though.  God’s word gives us a quick prayer that can be uttered any time we feel weak. It is found in Psalm 19:14, “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.” What beautiful words and what a loving God to give them to us. Welcome to “In His Praise!” Today we remember and honor dads and we give thanks for those godly men in our lives. East Point C.P. Church wishes each of you a blessed and happy Father’s Day! Being a good father can be a daunting task at times, but our heavenly Father gives guidance and encouragement all throughout His word. One such scripture is found in Micah 6:8, “He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” Thank you Heavenly Father for your love and guidance and thank you for sending Christian men to be earthly fathers.

He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing” Zephaniah 3:17.  What beautiful words! This promise was made to the God’s people in Jerusalem thousands of years ago. But today’s Christians are God’s people too and the good news is that we too can claim this promise.  What a blessing to know that we are so treasured by our Heavenly Father that He will protect us, find joy in us, soothe us when troubled and sing a happy song over us! Welcome to “In His Praise!” It has been said that prayer is the Christian’s most effective weapon. Why is praying so powerful?  First of all, what is prayer? Simply stated, prayer is communicating with God. Prayer opens up the channels so that we can speak directly to the Almighty and, most importantly, so that God can speak to us. It may not be an audible voice that we hear, but God speaks to our hearts and our minds. He gives us forgiveness, direction, solace, courage, and peace.  The scriptures teach us that with God all things are possible.
