“I the Lord do not change.”

Malachi 3:6a

Autumn is here and  with it comes changes. Leaves are changing colors and falling from the tress, plants are  becoming dormant, some animals are preparing for winter by getting ready to hibernate and we experience a change in the weather.

Many look forward to these changes and see it as a relief from a long, hot summer. They welcome the cooler temperatures and enjoy the beauty of nature. Others, that dislike cold weather, may see it as bringing us closer to the dreaded winter cold. Either way, seasons continue to change, as do our lives. As the old saying goes, “nothing is certain, except change.”

But, wait, that saying is not true! There is One we can count on to never change and that is God. “He is the same, yesterday, today and forever” (Hebrew 13:8). We can trust that God is with us day after day, season after season, year after year. His love for us will never diminish, change or disappear.

His mercies are new every morning and are always there for us! Great is your faithfulness, O God,  my Father. (Lamentations 3:23, paraphrased)

Thank you for being our unchanging and faithful Lord!
