In His Praise!

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”
2 Corinthians 5:17
2 Corinthians 5:17 is a beautiful and reassuring verse! Penned by Paul (formerly Saul), he knew all to well about the changes that Christ can bring about in one’s life. Saul was a hater of Christians and the church. He was on a mission to destroy the church, put christians in jail and squash this new religion. We read in Acts 8:1 that he was present at the stoning of Stephen and gave his approval. Saul was vile man with a cold, hateful heart.
But, God stepped in and changed Saul. He channeled all that zeal and hatred in a new direction. Not only was Saul’s name changed to Paul, his attitude, his character and his desires were changed when he met Jesus. Paul accepted Jesus’ salvation and became one of the greatest teachers, preachers and missionaries of the New Testament and many came to know the Lord because of his witness.
Maybe you know someone today that seems cold and indifferent toward the Lord. Maybe they have lived in sin for so long that a new way of life seems impossible. But Jesus said “with God all things are possible!” Matthew 19:26
God calls us us to keep praying for them, keep witnessing to them and keep believing that He can make a change in their life. What joy there will be when the old ways are gone and the new life is begun!
Thank you, Lord for the hope we have in Jesus Christ!
