“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:9
The little word all is found in several places in the Bible and although it is only three letters it carries enormous meaning! We find in Romans 3:23 the truth that all people have sinned. In Psalm 103:3 we read that the Lord God will forgive all our sins. In today’s verse we read that if we admit our sins that God is faithful and just in forgiving them and He will make us clean (purify us) from all unrighteousness.
From these few examples we learn that God is powerful, loving and just. He doesn’t say He will forgive us of just certain sins or only those that are not too bad. He says He will forgive ALL our sins, when we confess them and repent.
There is no sin too bad for God to forgive. There is no heart too hardened that He cannot touch and change it. There is no shame that He cannot erase. There is no path that He cannot turn around and set straight. There is no person that is too sinful that God cannot forgive them.
God is love and He truly desires that ALL people come to Him and receive salvation, peace and joy. The only thing we have to do is admit our sins and accept His forgiveness. Then God will change everything and we will begin to live our best life!
Thank you, Lord for your goodness and great love for all people.
