“Blessed beyond measure” , this is a phrase we hear often. It is a reference to Ephesians. 3:20, where Paul writes, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” .
Have you ever considered all the goodness that God bestows on each of us? It is easy to see the blessings of health, life, family and friends. We know that God guides us, protects us and keeps us safe from harm. We ask for these blessings daily and we are truly grateful for them.
But what about the blessings that we don’t really recognize. According to the above verse of scripture, God is able to do more than we can ask and even imagine! Philippians 4:19 assures us that God will meet all our needs, according to His riches in Christ Jesus. (Paraphrased) Let that promise sink in! What a wonderful Father to look beyond our meager requests and pour out so much more!
If God blesses us more than we can ask or imagine and He meets all our needs, then it seems that God blesses us when we don’t even know it. He may have kept us safe from a danger that we didn’t know about, or maybe we have been exposed to a terrible sickness, but never got sick, or perhaps a business deal didn’t work out, but in hindsight it was for the best. All these and more are acts of God in His children’s lives.
Let us never forget to thank God, not only for the blessings we ask for and receive, but also for those He so graciously pours out on us without our knowledge.
