In this season of gift-giving and receiving have you thought about what you would like to give to Jesus or what you might receive from Him? Of course the obvious answer is that we give Him our time, our talent, our praise, the number one place in our lives and then we receive forgiveness and love. This is true, but Jesus loves us so much that we can also give Him our hurts, our sadness, our disappointments, our unfulfilled dreams.
So what do we get in return for giving such things as this to our Lord? There’s a promise in Psalms 30: 11-12 that says He will turn our “wailing into dancing” and “He will cloth us with joy.” Again in John 16:20 we are promised that our “grief will be turned to joy.”
As we think about the familiar story of the Savior’s birth, let’s remember that God keeps His promises. The One through whom the whole earth would be blessed left the glories of heaven to be born in a simple stable to a poor family and to become the Savior of the world. God’s gift to each of us was and is salvation through Jesus Christ. With that salvation we also receive joy, peace, contentment, fulfillment and hope. We have a friend in Jesus that will never forsake us or disappoint us. This Christmas let this friend take your burdens and restore your joy. He loves you so!
What wonderful good news for this Christmas season! Let’s share it with everybody!
