“As surely as you live, you will die!” These were the opening words from Rev. Phil Nickles today. Death is not something that most of us like to talk about, but Rev. Nickles’ statement is true. Each of us will live our life, die and then spend eternity somewhere — either heaven or hell.
If asked, I don’t know of anyone that would choose hell instead of heaven — everlasting torment compared to everlasting happiness. It seems like a no-brainer, yet people make this choice everyday.
With a careless or callous attitude toward the Savior people are rejecting the salvation offered by Christ and are setting themselves up for an eternity in hell. Think about that for a minute — unending torment forever!
But there is good news! It doesn’t have to be this way. Romans 10:9 tells us, “That if you confess with your mouth, “That Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” This is a promise from our Lord, it doesn’t say you might be saved, it says you WILL be saved. It’s that simple and if your are saved then your eternity is secured. When this earthly life is over, there will be no doubt, you will have everlasting life in the presence of our God. You will have eternal joy and peace.
That is good news! If you have not made a decision to accept this salvation, please don’t wait any longer. Let Jesus into your heart and life today.
