In His Praise — April 23, 2017

When something good happens to us, don’t we want to share it with our loved ones and those closest to us? That was what happened on the road to Emmaus to two of Jesus’ followers. The story is found in Luke 24:13-18. There were two walking along discussing the recent events of Jesus’ death and the mystery of His resurrection when Jesus himself joined them! At first they didn’t recognized Him, but later Jesus revealed himself to them, but then vanished again. The scripture says that the two followers got up at once, returned to Jerusalem, (which was about seven miles away), found the rest of the disciples and shared with them what had happened. They had good news that Jesus was alive and they were eager to share it!

We too can share the good news of Jesus with others. We can share His word and His love. We can share how He died for our sins, rose again to life and gives the free gift of salvation to anyone that will repent of their sins, ask forgiveness and accept Him into their life.

We like the followers on the Emmaus road have exciting news that others need to hear. Let’s boldly share it with them.

Praise be to His glorious name forever. Psalm 72:19

In His Praise — April 9, 2017

The “good news” today is found in the book of John, chapter 11, verses 25 and 26. Here Jesus is talking to his friend Martha, who has just experienced the death of her brother only days before. Jesus is reassuring Martha that her brother Lazarus will live again and Martha agrees that she believes in the resurrection of believers after death. But Jesus goes even deeper by telling Martha that He is the resurrection and those that believe in Him will never die! As we follow the rest of this story in chapter 11 we find that moments later Jesus summoned Lazarus from his grave and Lazarus did indeed come back to life. What joy Lazarus and his family must have felt to be reunited once again! What a blessing it must have been for them to be able to call Jesus their friend! Perhaps Lazarus, Martha and their other sister Mary told this story over and over to others to witness about their Lord.

We too can have the joy of calling Jesus our friend. This eternal life that Jesus offers is not just for an elect few, it is for anyone that will believe on Him and accept His salvation. The “good news” is the same for us as it was for Martha. Just as Jesus said to her “…he who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die…” He also speaks to us. Jesus took the punishment for all our wrongdoings when He died on the cross, but, praise God, He came back to life and conquered death that we too might have eternal life.

The good news from East Point C.P. Church today is that we don’t deserve God’s grace and mercy, but He gives it to us freely! God pours out His blessings on us and on our lives because He loves us. How do we know this? Because He sent His only Son, Jesus, who took our sins upon Himself, died on the cross and rose again to life so that we could have salvation. All we have to do is accept it and let Jesus in our hearts. It is not complicated and it is not difficult, God is waiting with loving arms to give His free gifts of salvation, mercy and grace.

Let’s share this good news with everyone!

Welcome to In His Praise!
Did you know that Christians are victorious people? It is true! When Jesus died on the cross for all our sins and then rose again to life, He conquered this world and all the evil in it. When we accept this salvation from Jesus then we too are victorious over sin, death, and the grave.

Life might not always be perfect while we are in this world, but we can be assured that we will have the final victory because Jesus has already claimed it for us!

Now that is great news to share with others!

Welcome to In His Praise!

John the Baptist preached repentance to the world a few thousand years ago. He told those that would listen to his message that one greater than himself was coming, one that would save the lost, heal the sick and help the needy. Jesus was that one and he did just that, He came into the world to save, heal and help; and He is still saving, healing and helping. That is the good news that we Christians should be sharing with others.

But we have another message too and that is that Jesus is coming again one day to take His people home with Him. That will be a joyous day! The “good news” is that nobody has to miss it. Accept Jesus’ love and salvation today. Let Him come into your heart and make you into a new person. All it takes is one simple, sincere prayer telling Christ that you repent from your sins and accept Him as your Savior. Romans 10:9 says if you confess with your mouth “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Now that is GREAT NEWS!

Good News from East Point C.P. Church

🙏
Welcome to In His Praise!

Our ‘Good News” today is found in Titus 3. Here it says that all of us at one time in our lives were “foolish, disobedient and were enslaved…” (vs.3) But when God came with His kindness and love He saved us through Jesus Christ; “not because of the righteous things we had done but because of His mercy.” (vs. 4) The GREAT NEWS is that He still offers this mercy and salvation today! We just need to accept it. Let’s join together to share this message with the world — Jesus saves, Jesus saves!

In His Praise — July 17, 2016

The “good news” from East Point today is that if you are child of God you are blessed and highly favored. It makes you wonder why anyone would not want a relationship with God. But everyday people put off accepting Christ for various reasons. Maybe they think they can not live up to being a Christian, that they’re not good enough. But the Bible tells us in Romans 3:23-24 that everybody has sinned, that we are justified only through Christ death and resurrection. 2 Corinthians 5:17 goes on to say that God will take away our old sinful ways and replace them with new ways. So why wait to accept this free gift of salvation? Begin today to live a blessed and favored life in Christ. He is waiting to hear from you!

If you would like to talk more about coming to know Christ, please contact Rev. Phil Nickles at 256-347-1199.

Welcome to In His Praise!
Memorial Day is a special time of remembrance. Today at East Point C. P. Church patriotic songs and hymns were sung as we remembered and gave honor to those that had given their all in service to our country. Yes, it is a special day indeed and we should always be willing to thank those men and women that have been willing to sacrifice their lives that we can all have the liberty to worship God freely and openly.

Reverend Hughlen Murphree filled in for Bro. Nickels today. In his message he talked about the importance of saying thank you to God. Not only can we say thanks for such things as life, health, family, homes, jobs and our churches, but most of all we owe a debt of gratitude to Jesus for dying for us and giving us salvation. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice for you and me, so that we could have eternal life with Him. Now that is good news that should always be remembered!
