In His Praise — April 1, 2018

The good news today is found in Matthew 28:6, “He is not here; He is risen, just as he said.” Jesus is alive and well! He lives in every Christian heart and His light shines in all His children.

Jesus loves each of us as if we were the only person on earth. He showed His love by dying on the cross for all our sins. But Christ did not stay dead, He arose from the grave and He lives forever! He gives us salvation, eternal life and a peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

Thanks be to God for His wonderful gift!

In His Praise — March 18, 2018

Rev. Phil Nickles asked the question today, “Are you walking like a forgiven child of God?” As Christians we often forget that when God forgives us He completely forgets our sins. We allow Satan to keep reminding us of our past and the wrongs there. But God’s word says, “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”(Hebrews 8:12)

When we accept God’s salvation through Christ, God forgets our past and gives us a new future. A future filled with joy, peace and contentment. Life on this earth will never be perfect, but with God, we can live triumphantly everyday!

Now that is great news!

Merry Christmas!! That’s the good news for today! Christmas is the day we celebrate Jesus’ birth, and what joy that should and can bring to all mankind. Jesus came into this world to seek those that were lost, sick and hurting and to give hope and healing. Today he does that same thing. God loved the world so much that He sent His precious Son into the world to save it. When Jesus came, love as the world had never seen or known came down from heaven. That same love exist today!

If you are lost and hurting, in need of something more in your life, then Jesus is your answer. He can calm the storms of life, give hope and peace, and change situations that seem impossible.

So this Christmas ask Christ into your heart. Confess your sins and let Him create in you a new person that has joy, peace and contentment, not just at Christmas, but everyday all year long!

Peace is a word that we hear a lot at this time of the year. There are songs about peace, Christmas cards express our wish for peace and people seek to find peace in their lives. But the good news is that Christ has already given us that peace that we seek. The angels announced it when they appeared to the shepherds on the night that Jesus was born. They heralded the message that Jesus was here and with Him was the peace that so many sought.

People today are still seeking peace in their lives — peace from worries, peace from financial strain, peace from addiction, peace from family problems and the list goes on and on. That same peace that the angels spoke of is still available today.

We find these words of comfort in Colossians 3:15, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” That’s it! Jesus is calling us to accept His peace and let it rule our lives. His word also tells us,“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you”, 1 Peter 5:7.

What wonderful news and what a wonderful gift to receive this Christmas — the peace of Christ. It is free, and it is ours for the taking when we trust the Lord and believe His word.

Today Rev. Nickles talked about wall building. Sometimes we intentionally or unintentionally build walls around ourselves. Maybe we have been hurt by someone or some situation, maybe we’re unsure how to move forward, maybe we just do not want to deal with someone or maybe we really do not feel love for others in our hearts. Whatever the reason, we begin to alienate others by our actions, and our words. We feel we don’t need anyone else and just want to be left alone. We may think we are doing this to protect ourselves and those we care about from hurtful situations, or that avoiding conflict will cause the problem to go away. But before long we have built a wall, a barrier between ourselves and others. All we are is alone and full of anger, resentment and even hate. When problems are not dealt with they tend to manifest and grow bigger. So we end up surrounded by an even greater wall than which we started.

But, as always, the good news is that God has an answer for us. In Ephesians 2:14 it says, “For He himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility”. All we need to do is let God take over in our lives. Let Him fill us with His love and joy. Let Him give us direction in how to react to others and in return we will have peace, contentment, love and happiness in our lives.

Now that is some very good news!!

There are many things in this world that are unsettling — things like crime, prejudice, terrorism, and all kinds of uncertainties. Everyday life can be stressful; money problems loom, family situations explode and misunderstandings can become volatile. These things threaten to rob us of our joy and our peace.
But we don’t have to live with such anxiety. Jesus has promised us His peace. This is a peace that we cannot understand, a peace that goes beyond our human knowledge, a peace that can steady our lives when everything seems to be turned upside down. In John 14:27 Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.”

What good news to know that Jesus’ promises are right and true and they last forever, even for you and me!

Welcome to In His Praise!
The “good news” from East Point C.P. Church comes from the book of Romans, chapter 15, verse 13. It says, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” What a promise!! God can and will fill our lives with joy and peace and make our hope overflow. All we have to do is trust Him.
