Today Rev. Phil Nickles shared a wonderful message from God with the congregation! This good news is that as a children of God we are entitled to all the blessings that God has for us. It is inconceivable to think of all the ways that we are blessed. It is truly an humbling thought, and should spur us to want to let God’s love shine through us more and more.
In fact in Luke 12:48(b) it says to whom much is given, much will be required. So what does this mean? As Rev. Nickles explained, even though we are entitled to God’s goodness and blessings, we are not entitled to keep them to ourselves. We are expected, and commanded, to bless others. When we do kind deeds, help someone, share the gospel or even encourage another we are showing God’s light in a dark world. God’s light (love) is the only way to break the darkness that has such a hold on so many.
Luke 6:38 reminds us that if we give, we will receive — “a good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap”. Isn’t it great news to know that as we share the love of God we will be blessing others, and God in return will bless us even more!
