Welcome to “In His Praise!” There is a story recorded in the book of John, chapter 9 about a man that was born blind. He had never been able to see and now as an adult he spent his days sitting by the roadside begging for handouts. As Jesus and His disciples were walking passed him one day, the disciples took notice of him, and so did Jesus!  Jesus not only noticed him, He had compassion for him and restored the man’s sight! Jesus simply made some mud with His own saliva and put it on the man’s eyes and instructed him to go wash in the Pool of Siloam. When the man did this, he could see! Welcome to “In His Praise!” As Christians we are told to share the gospel with others.  Jesus died to bring salvation to all people and as His disciples we should always be ready and willing to share this good news with the lost.   But witnessing to others is not always easy. Some may ignore the message, others may question it. Still others may flatly refuse to hear it. It can be discouraging and it may seem that we are not winning anyone to Christ. But, an encouraging word is found in Isaiah 55:11. In this verse  God says”… my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”  So…

Welcome to “In His Praise!” Listening to the news and paying attention to current events in today’s world can be somewhat unsettling, to say the least. It would be easy for the devil to get a foothold in our lives and cause fear and panic to be in control.  But, as Christians, we can be comforted and encouraged by these words from Jesus found in John 17:15, “My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.” Hallelujah! Jesus has already prayed for us and asked God to protect us. What a comfort! What a wonderful Savior! Welcome to “In His Praise!” The Bible is full of promises from God and all of them are good news to hear and apply to our lives. God’s words are real. He always has the right answers for us and we can trust that He will always do what He says.  Today Rev. Nickles shared  Jeremiah 32:40, where God, speaking about His children said, “I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them,” . WOW!! What a promise! Welcome to “In His Praise!” It’s Valentine’s Day and love is in the air. Everywhere you look there are advertisements for something that is sure to let your sweetheart know how much you love him or her. Millions of dollars are being spent this weekend on candy, cards, flowers, gifts, trips and so many more things in an attempt to express love to those in our lives that mean so much to us. Now there is nothing wrong with letting others know how special they are or how much they mean to us. The Bible teaches us to love one another. Welcome to “In His Praise!” The good news today is found in two verses of scripture and speaks of the love that our Heavenly Father has for each one of us.  We begin with 2 Peter 3:9, which says, “The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” Although we may not respond to His call to repent immediately as we should, God is patient with us. Welcome to “In His Praise!” Life can be tough. Problems can seem insurmountable. Pain and temptation can surround us. There may seem to be no answer for our troubles. There is no one to turn to that cares enough to even listen. We feel hopeless and helpless. But good news and hope are found in these words from Psalm 40:1-3.  “I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire;  he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Welcome to “In His Praise!” The “pursuit of happiness” is one of the rights stated in the preamble of the constitution of the United States. “We the people” have a right to seek happiness. But what does it take to make we humans really happy? Good jobs, plenty of money, health, family, friends, leisure time spent doing what we want? There is nothing wrong with any of these things, but many times those that seem to have everything in life are the most unhappy. Everyone suffers sickness from time to time. Welcome to “In His Praise!” The good news today is found in the book of Psalms. These verses reassure God’s children that we are never alone, that we are protected and that God’s love is forever.  “Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forever more.” Psalm 125:1-2  Praise God for these wonderful words of comfort and peace. As a child of God we are protected, sheltered and strengthened by our Almighty Father. What an awesome promise to receive! Welcome to “In His Praise!” “But now, this is what the Lord says… Fear not for I have redeemed you, I have summoned you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
