In His Praise — February 9, 2025

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.”

Ephesians 6:18

There has been much said and written about prayer and praying. There have been books written telling us how to pray, when to pray, even what kinds of prayers to say at particular times. We too try to categorize our prayers sometimes by lumping them into groups like: prayers for thanksgiving, prayers for our needs, prayers for forgiveness or prayers for help, guidance or direction.

None of this is wrong and may be helpful, but the most important thing to remember is that prayer is simply a conversation with God. We may not have the most eloquent words or we may not be able to express exactly what we are feeling or thinking, but God looks at our hearts and understands what we are trying to say and the Holy Spirit intercedes for us! (Romans 8:26-27)

So the inspired words of Paul to the Ephesians should encourage us in our prayer life too. We can pray anytime, anywhere, we can pray aloud or silently. When can pray alone or with others. We can pray for our needs to be met or simply praise and thank our Lord for the blessings already received. We can pray for forgiveness and deliverance, guidance and help. Just remember to always pray, everyday, on all occasions with a heart full of love for our Father.

He will always hear us and He will always answer in the way that is best for us.
