“See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”
Isaiah 43:19
Many people are living in hard times right now. Financial problems are real. With inflation on the rise, higher prices are seen on almost everything that is needed for day to day living. Some people, as well as businesses, are still struggling to recover from jobs and incomes lost during the pandemic.
Emotional struggles are a real thing too. Mental health issues have been brought to the forefront of society, (as well they should be). Many struggle just to get through a normal day’s activities, hold a job, or deal with the other stresses that occur.
In addition, stress alone can cause a number of physical problems. Hopelessness can begin to take over minds and bodies.
Hopeless may have been the way the Israelites felt too. They had been through hard times— wandered in the wilderness, attacked by enemies, questioned where they would find food and water and had been rebellious toward God; but, God did not turn his back on them. Instead He gave them hope in words that promised something brand new. Although the Israelites could not see it at the time, God was making a way to bring them out of all their troubles.
That is our hope too! God will always make a way for us. We might not see it immediately or understand it, but we can trust it. God will never leave us alone to fight the battles we face. He always meets our needs “according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
