“Therefore, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

Romans 8:1

What do these words from Romans 8 mean? What does it mean to to be in Christ Jesus and to be free from condemnation?

It is not really difficult to understand. The inspired writings of the apostle Paul lay out a simple to follow explanation of this verse. It has come to be called the Roman Road to Salvation.

Beginning with Romans 3:10 and 23 we hear that no one is righteous (good) , everyone has sinned. We were condemned to hell for our wrongs.

Reassurance is found in Romans 5:8 ,though, when we read that
“while we were still sinners,” God sent Jesus to die in our stead. He took our sins away.

Furthermore when we accept this freedom from our sins we can then receive the benefit of eternal life, Romans 6:23. We are no longer condemned by our wrong doings.

Romans 10:9 tells us what we have to do to receive this salvation – “confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Verse 13 of the same chapter says this “Everyone who calls on the the name of Jesus will be saved.”

God wants all people to accept His salvation. He made the path to His saving grace simple to understand and easy to follow. If you do not know the Lord as your Savior, please do not waste another day to claim your freedom from the condemnation of sin. Give all your doubts, fears and wrongs to Jesus and believe that He died and rose for you too. Confess that He is Lord and begin to reap the benefits of joy and peace; and the assurance of eternal life as a child of God!
