“Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.”
Psalm 145:3
A well known children’s prayer begins with “God is great and God is good…” These are simple words, but oh the weight and truth they carry!
God is great! He created the world out of nothing. The sun, moon and stars, His handiwork, declare His glory (Psalm 19:1) He created man from mere dust and gave him life by breathing holy breath into him. Only the great God could have performed such wonders.
His greatness is evident today too. He continues to give life to His creations, by waking us each new day. He provides for us beyond anything we can imagine and He protects us from the evils of this world. Only the mighty God can do such things.
Yes, God is great and God is good. He is almighty and powerful. He could easily wipe us away from Him when we reject Him and follow our own way. But in His great goodness, He is patient and kind and provides a way back to Him. Because of His great love for us, He has provided salvation for us through His Son, Jesus. John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Our God is all-powerful, yet loving and gentle. Our minds can not understand it all. But one thing we can know for sure is that He is worthy of all our worship and praise! What a great and good God we serve!
