In His Praise — July 11, 2021

Welcome to “In His Praise!”

“…God is love…”, 1 John 4:8 and 16.  What beautiful and true words! Most of us have either spoken them or heard them sometime in our life, but do we really comprehend what these three simple words mean and how great our God’s love is for each of us?

We can turn to scripture to begin to scratch the surface of understanding. First of all, we find in John 3:16 and Romans 5:8 that God’s love for us will save us from sin and eternal damnation. Because He loved us enough to send Jesus to die for our sins, we can be forgiven and enjoy eternity with Him. His saving love is a gift that none of us deserve or can earn.

That’s not all, though, God’s love protects us (Psalm 5:11-12 and Psalm 36:5-7). His love never ends, (Lamentations 3:21-23).  We cannot be separated from God’s love, (Romans  8:35-39) and God’s love is immeasurable, (Ephesians 3:18-19). What a wonder our great God is to be so full of love for His creations! We scarcely can take it in.

But in return we are to reflect this great love and share it with others. Galatians 5:22-23 teaches us that the fruit of the spirit includes love. 1 John 4:11 – 12 also says that since God loved us, we ought to love others so that His love is made complete.

Thanks be to God for His goodness and love to us and may we always strive to share His love with the world.
