Happy 4th of July! Today we celebrate freedom. Americans enjoy a lifestyle of rights and privileges that many others in the world can only dream about. God has richly blessed our country and for that we are thankful. He has also blessed us with freedom from sin and the consequences.
Freedom is truly a God-given right and should never be taken for granted. But like the saying goes, “to whom much is given, much is required”. As Christians we have a responsibility to use our freedoms in the right way. Galatians 5:13 instructs us to do just that; “You, my brothers, are called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature, rather serve one another in love.”
As we celebrate today, let us let God’s freedom from sin forever ring in our lives and let us be that light that will bring others to this saving freedom.
